Healthy Aging with Our Optometrist

Our team offers professional eye doctor assessments to determine the precise condition of our patient's eyes. There's a particular concern about age-related disorders, and we can diagnose and treat them in their earliest stages. In addition to performing all the necessary eye examinations, we will collect the pertinent family history essentials to verify the correct diagnosis.

Age-Related Diseases and Disorders

Our optometrist professionals are experienced in eye care for people of all ages and are familiar with age-related conditions. The common problems that can develop in older people, causing degeneration of the eyes:

Cataracts

This condition can produce cloudy eye regions, causing blurred or foggy vision. Cataracts can remain small and have little effect on vision, but they can also increase in size, generating greater vision loss. Regular checkups with your eye doctor will help determine if cataracts exist and whether treatment, such as surgery, might be beneficial.

Dry Eye

When tear glands malfunction, the resulting problem could be dry eyes. Treatment options include eye drops, humidifiers, ointments, and more serious remedies, such as prescription drugs or surgery.

Glaucoma

Pressure from an overload of fluid inside the eye is known as glaucoma. This reduces vision substantially and eventually causes blindness. We can monitor glaucoma so that you stay up-to-date on the status of the condition.

Macular Degeneration

This condition reduces central vision, affecting the ability to see conventional objects. This deterioration decreases the capacity to do basic operations, such as driving and reading books and labels. In addition, some must deal with whiteouts and dark, blurry areas in their central vision.

Good Nutrition to Lessen Eye Degeneration

One of the fundamental ways to maintain healthy eyes is to become knowledgeable about proper nutrition. People should include eating foods rich in Vitamin A and beta-carotene, such as leafy green vegetables, carrots, tomatoes, oranges, blueberries, and eggs. Proper nutrition will promote remarkably clearer vision, as well as robust health.
