Your eyes are essential to your daily living. You use them to see and read. As such, it is important that you keep them as healthy as you possibly can. Here at H. Arnold Papernick OD, located in Mt. Pleasant, PA, we offer different optometry services to help keep your eyes as healthy as possible and treat eye conditions that arise. Here are some of the conditions that we treat.

Conditions Treated

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is called the sneak thief of sight because it often has no noticeable symptoms until a significant amount of vision has already been lost.

But remember, you may have glaucoma even if you don't experience any symptoms. Don't wait for symptoms to appear before seeking regular eye exams.

Cataracts

Cataracts cause the lens in the eye to become cloudy. Depending on the stage that your cataracts are in, different treatments may be available, up to and including surgery. We can check your eyes for cataracts and then comanage after the surgery..

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is typically an age-related condition. As you age, your macula becomes more and more damaged, which results in blurred vision. Unfortunately, in the early stages, there are no symptoms. As such, having your eyes examined routinely is the best way to check for and diagnose this condition, helping to slow down its progression.

Imperfect Vision

One of the most common conditions that we treat is imperfect vision. We can conduct an eye exam and help determine whether you are near-sighted or far-sighted and how to treat that. Some of the treatments include glasses, contacts lenses or even Lasik eye surgery. We comanage Lasik eye surgery, including extensive pre and post-operative care.

Corneal Reshaping

Orthokeratology, more commonly referred to as Ortho-K, is a treatment that is corneal reshaping through the use of special contact lenses that are worn only while you sleep. Reshaping helps to cure or improve myopia, or nearsightedness. This may improve your eyesight to such an extent that you do not have to wear contact lenses or eyeglasses to see.
