At H. Arnold Papernick O.D., our office provides a wide range of vision services. Our patients benefit from services like vision exams, hard to fit contacts, Lasik eye surgery, dry eye treatments, computer vision issues, cataracts and more. One area that is growing in popularity is our vision therapy services.
Like massage therapy is designed to help muscles perform better and physical therapy is designed to promote better movement, vision therapy, or eye training and visual training is designed to help a patient's vision. Vision therapy is designed to prevent vision problems that can lead to learning problems. It is also a helpful therapy in treating issues like a lazy eye, crossed eyes, and double vision. Eye training seeks to not only strengthen eye muscles but in enhancing neurological connections between the eyes and the brain.
Under the supervision of our eye care professionals, patients will undergo visual training exercises once or twice a week in sessions lasting from 30 minutes to an hour. These eye training sessions continue until improvement in a patient's particular condition is seen.
Visual training can be helpful for children and adults alike. Eye glasses may not be a solution for children if visual processing is the issue. For adults, vision processing problems that are brought on by working with computers all day can be improved through visual therapy.
How will you know if visual therapy is an effective option for you? It starts with a complete vision exam. Following your eye exam, we'll help determine the cause of your vision problems and determine if vision therapy may be an effective form of treatment for you.
